Suasana semasa Taklimat Latihan dan Program Pengakap Daerah Hulu Terengganu bertempat di Dewan Temala, Hotel Seri Malaysia, Marang, Terengganu Darul Iman. Empat perkara teras telah dibincangkan iaitu:

• Pemimpin dan Kepimpinan [Latihan];
• Semua Ahli Pengakap [Aktiviti & Skim Latihan lencana];
• Kem Pengakap Daerah (Kem Perda) Belukar Bukit, Ajil, Terengganu [Pembangunan & Penyelengaraan];
• Keseluruhan Pemimpin dan Ahli Pengakap [Apresiasi].

Taklimat ini telah dihadiri sama oleh YM Tengku Mohd Razali bin Tengku Ngah, Setiausaha Latihan Negeri Terengganu.

Semoga Kepengakapan di internet akan lebih meriah serta akan melahirkan "weblog" atau "website" yang bermutu serta bermaklumat. Usaha-usaha yang dilakukan oleh 2 orang rakan Pengakap ini telah mendahului Ibupejabat dalam menggunakan aplikasi maya yang termurah dalam menjalinkan semua Pengakap di Malaysia. Negri ruler and former Agong Tuanku Ja’afar dies

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Yang diPertuan Besar Tuanku Ja’afar Tuanku Abdul Rahman, who was the nation’s 10th Yang diPertuan Agong from 1994 to 1999, died at about 11.45am Saturday. He was 86 years old.

State Secretary Datuk Norzam Mohd Nor confirmed this at a press conference at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital here.

Tuanku Ja’afar had earlier complained of dizziness and chest discomfort.

“The hospital was contacted and two senior consultants, Datuk Dr Tarmizi Thayaparan and Datuk Dr K. Sree Raman, rushed to the Istana Hinggap here to attend to Tuanku,” Norzam told a special news conference to announce the demise at the hospital’s VIP room.

Also present at the news conference were Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Osman Salleh, State Director of Health Dr Zainal Arifin Omar and members of the royal family, according to a Bernama report.

Norzam said the two specialists arrived at Istana Hinggap at 8.25am and found Tuanku Ja’afar to be too weak but conscious and they advised that he be taken immediately to hospital.

“Tuanku was rushed to the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and was administered emergency treatment.

“I wish to state here that Tuanku Ja’afar passed away at 11.45am at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital,” he said, Bernama reported. Norzam said Tuanku Ja’afar’s remains would be taken to the Istana Besar Seri Menanti in Kuala Pilah for the lying-in-state ceremony before being laid to rest after the asar prayers on Monday.

He also said that this was to allow for the return of Tuanku Ja’afar’s children who were abroad.

Norzam said Tuanku Ja’afar’s remains would be placed in the Balairong Seri (Throne Room) of the Istana Besar Seri Menanti to enable members of the royalty, leaders and the public to pay their last respects.

He said the state had declared 40 days of mourning from Saturday and all official government functions over the next seven days have been postponed.

“All government offices and buildings must fly the state flag at half-mast for the 40 days. During the mourning period, all male government employees must wear the songkok bearing a white band while the female employees are required to wear a white band on a sleeve.

“All entertainment outlets must also postpone all their activities over the next seven days from today,” he said, according to the Bernama report. Norzam said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, who is on holiday in London, was expected back at 10am Sunday.

Distinguished service

Born in 1922, Tuanku Ja’afar studied at Malay College Kuala Kangsar before graduating from the University of Nottingham. He then attended Balliol College in Oxford.

During the Japanese occupation, he served at the Seremban Land Office and as district officer of Rembau from 1946 to 1947. Upon his return from Britain in 1952, he held several posts in the civil service.

In 1957, he took up a special course for diplomatic services in London and was appointed Charge d’ Affaires in Washington DC, then as First Secretary with the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, and later was Consular and Deputy High Commissioner at the High Commission of Malaya in London.

Tuanku Ja’afar was later appointed the Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt and then High Commissioner to Nigeria and Ghana.

He was recalled by the Negri Sembilan state government after the death of his brother Tuanku Munawir, the state ruler, and was appointed Ruler in 1967.

Tuanku Ja’afar was the 10th Yang diPertuan Agong of Malaysia.

He leaves behind wife Tuanku Najihah Tunku Besar Burhanuddin, three sons and three daughters.

Ke Mana Hala Tuju Laman Web Ibupejabat PPM...

Bercerita perihal laman web atau laman blog... Ibupejabat PPM telah mengendalikan laman web yang agak menarik dari segi penampilannya... Namun begitu apabila kita memasuki ruang forumnya agak hambar kerana seperti tiada sambutan serta pengelolanya sendiri tidak menyedari persoalan yang ditombulkan oleh pengunjung forum...

Secara peribadi AQELA berpendapat sebuah organisasi yang sebesar ini serta dikelolakan oleh orang-orang yang hebat sepatutnya laman webnya akan lebih bermaklumat yang terkini serta interaktif kepada pengunjungnya...

Apabila kita melawati beberapa laman web PPM [Negeri, Daerah atau Kumpulan] yang lain, kelihatannya agak lebih kehadapan dari segi teknologi serta maklumat yang disiarkan...

Namun begitu, itulah laman web kebanggaan kita sebagai seorang Pengakap... Kepada orang ibupejabat jangan cepat melenting tetapi fikir-fikirkan macam mana untuk menjadikan laman web tersebut sebagai laman web "Nomuro Uno"....

First 550 Scouts earn World Scout Environment Badge!

First 550 Scouts earn World Scout Environment Badge!
During the first few months of 2008, fourteen local Scout Groups and Scout Centres from nine countries around the world were given the special task of testing the curriculum content and programme activities for the World Scout Environment Badge. These 550 Scouts from Algeria, Australia, Bolivia, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, Palestinian Authority, South Africa and the United Kingdom gave valuable feedback that proved the environment is an important global issue and something that young people, wherever they are in the world, are concerned about and want to help make a difference.
The Scouts participated in a wide range of activities that included exploring their local environment, looking at the local air quality and water quality, analysing environmental issues in their country then engaging in debates and discussions, learning about natural disasters that could happen to their community, creating natural art pieces, tree planting, clean up activities, looking at their own carbon footprint and much more.
The World Scout Environment Badge, as part of the wider World Scout Environment Programme, was adopted by the 38th World Scout Conference in Korea, July 2008. In order for the Scouts to earn the World Scout Environment Badge, they participate in activities based on five aims: air and water, habitats and native species, harmful substances, environmental practices, environmental hazards and natural disasters. They then take action with a project, based on their experiences, which contributes to the local and global environment. Programme activity resources that can be used by local Scout Groups have been developed to help focus on these aims, targeted at different age groups.
When providing the World Scout Environment Badges and certificates to the Scouts, Luc Panissod, Acting Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, offered his praise to the Scouts for their commitment and enthusiasm in the testing period, recommending, "We hope that you will look upon this not as the conclusion of your interest in the environment, but as a starting point in a lifelong journey."

Along with the many Scouts and leaders involved in developing the World Scout Environment Programme, several partner organisations were very supportive. The Alcoa Foundation provided a two-year $US205,000 grant to support environment education in Scouting. Rudi Huber, President Alcoa European Region said, "Over the past two years we’ve witnessed and contributed to the development of this extremely valuable programme. It’s great to see that the Scouts are now taking the next step, integrating environmental education even further in the Scouting curriculum and using the Environment Badge as a sign of being aware of what’s important now and for the future".
The World Organization of the Scout Movement is the world's largest youth movement, with 28 million members, girls and boys, women and men, in 215 countries and territories. National Scout Organizations are now looking at how the World Scout Environment Programme can be applied within their country.

KURSUS PENTARAF PENGAKAP RAJA 2008

Seramai empat orang pemimpin Pengakap dari Terengganu bersama 58 orang pemimpin Pengakap dari seluruh negara menjalani Kursus Pentaraf Pengakap Raja yang telah dijalankan di Kuala Lumpur. Kursus ini dikendalikan oleh 10 orang Jurulatih yang berkemahiran serta berpengalaman dan diketuai oleh Tuan Haji Rahmat bin Jaafar. Kursus ini berlangsung dari 19 hingga 21 Disember 2008. Penutupan kursus ini akan disempurnakan oleh Ketua Pengakap Negara.

7th APR Scout Photo Contest 2009

"SCOUTS REACHING OUT"

The APR Scout Photo Contest for 2009 will be held in March 2009 in Tokyo, Japan.

• Deadline : 10th February 2009. (Date to submit the photo to the Asia-Pacific Regional Office)
• Theme : Scouts Reaching Out.
• Eligibility : Registered Scouts and Scout Leaders with National Scout Organisation within Asia-Pacific region.

Details about the contest is given in the PPM - General Circular: Photo Contest which can be downloaded from the Scout Circular Section which is on the left-hand corner of this website.

Malaysian Scouts who are interested in participating in the said contest, please send the photo and the completed form to PPM Headquarters for endorsement as soon as possible.
