Malaysia first hosted an Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference as far back in 1964, when it organised the 4th Far East Scout Conference from 6th December to 12th December 1964 at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Kuala Lumpur.
The Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia ( the Scouts Association of Malaysia) at that time was headed by the Chief Scout, Tun Hj. Sardon bin Hj. Zubir. The National Chief Commissioner was Y. B. Datuk Esa bin Alwee. The Conference was officialy opened by the late Y. T. M. Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia.
After 45 years, the Perseketuan Pengakap Malaysia (the Scout Association of Malaysia) has again been given the honour of hosting The 23rd Asia-Pacific Regional Conference in October 2009. This is a proud moment for the Perseketuan Pengakap Malaysia and all Malaysian Scouts.
Malaysia welcomes all the Scouters and participants from the Asia-Pacific Region and as well as from other regions to attend the 23rd Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference in the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia. Participants can be assured of the best of service, facilities and the well known Malaysian hospitality.
